Requires clinical competency and training abilities for CPB, ECMO, Impella, IABP, and more.  Involves clerical and diplomatic tasks such as keeping track of and ordering stock, filing paperwork, meeting with other disciplines, maintaining strong relationships with vendors and staff throughout the hospital, writing and implementing policies, ensuring a safe work environment for both staff and patients, and being a valuable and educated resource when perfusion related questions arise.

 Includes conducting cardiopulmonary bypass and other extracorporeal procedures at hospitals around the country. Requires the ability to travel and adapt to new teams and situations quickly and promptly. 

Columbia University Medical Center

Includes conducting cardiopulmonary bypass for Cardiothoracic procedures, including minimally invasive procedures, robotic procedures, adult congenital cases, LVAD procedures, transplants (heart, liver, lung, multi organ), and more. Involves initiating and maintaining ECMO, as well as transportation of ECMO within and between hospitals. Other requirements include special extracorporeal procedures as well as maintaining equipment and stocking supplies. Includes using hospital electronic record collection and safety systems such as VIPER, EPIC, and QUANTUM Informatics.

Includes conducting cardiopulmonary bypass for a variety of cardiac procedures, as well as the initiation and maintenance of ECMO. Also assists in maintaining equipment and stocking supplies.
